| Objectives: |
The Diploma aims to provide the underpinning knowledge that health and safety practitioners will need to reinforce their performance. On successful completion of the course, the student will meet the academic requirements for admission to the appropriate grade of membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. (IOSH).

| Course Structure: |
The course is split into four units of study plus a unit covering core skills. Units A-C are assessed by a written examination and Unit D is an examinable assignment designed to test the candidate's practical application of their knowledge.
These are: |
- Unit CS – core skills (students who have Dip 1 or a degree level qualification may be exempt)
- Unit A – the management of health and safety
- Unit B – hazardous agents in the workplace
- Unit C – workplace and work equipment safety
- Unit D - assignment

| Assessment of the Course: |
Units A, B and C are each assessed by a three-hour written examination. The exams may be taken at the same or different sittings. Unit D is an assignment which is examined. A certificate is awarded for each successfully completed unit, but all four units must be passed for the Diploma to be awarded. The registration period is five years. During this time students may re-sit any of the examinations, including Unit D, to gain a higher mark. Re-submitted assignments will not be capped and no feedback will be given.

| Course Length: |
One day a week over approximately eighteen months. Students are free to space their study if necessary, though the registration period must be borne in mind. |
