| Aims: |
| To enable senior executives of large organisations to understand their health and safety responsibilities and how health and safety should influence their strategic thinking and holistic risk management practices. |

| Objectives: |
| On completion of the course, delegates will be able to: |
- understand the health and safety role and responsibilities of senior executives in order to minimise the overall risk
- take into account health and safety aspects during strategic planning decision making and effective supply chain management
- know the consequences of failing to manage health and safety effectively.

| Course Structure: |
| The course is arranged into four modules and provides an understanding of the knowledge and skills required to implement an effective health and safety management system. |
- the moral, legal and business case for effective health and safety management, outlining the role of senior executives
- the relevance of corporate governance to health and safety
- raising awareness and understanding of accidents and their causes
- the requirement for effective health and safety management, its principles and its strategic implementation
- recognising the value of people and the factors that affect their performance
- measuring and improving performance.

| Assessment of the Course: |
| There is an assessment paper consisting of 10 questions. Successful completion results in the award of an Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Certificate. |
