Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)
IOSH
is a chartered institution and is Europe's leading body
for individuals with a professional involvement in occupational
safety and health. As the pre-eminent body representing
individual safety and health practitioners in the UK,
IOSH is consulted by government departments for the
views of its members on draft legislation, approved
codes of practice and guidance notes, and is represented
on the committees of national and international
standards-making bodies.
The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH)
Founded
in 1979, the National Examination Board in Occupational
Safety and Health is an independent awarding body attracting
15,000 candidates each year. NEBOSH qualifications
are recognised and respected by employers in all sectors
of the economy and provide the benchmark standard against
which others are compared
NEBOSH was the first health and safety awarding body to have been given accreditation by the government's Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA). Holding a NEBOSH qualification is perceived as evidence of real achievement.
Institute of Risk Management (IRM)
IRM
is risk management's professional education body.
Established as a not-for-profit organisation, the Institute
is governed by practising risk professionals and has
strong links to leading universities and business schools
across the world.
The worldwide membership is drawn from industry, commerce, consultancy and the public sector. Members have backgrounds in many different risk-related disciplines: accountants, project managers, insurers, chartered surveyors, health care professionals, lawyers, bankers, auditors, health and safety professionals and engineers are among those represented.
The IRM Associateship qualification (AIRM) is recognised worldwide as the sign of a risk management professional and is achieved through examination: Fellowship (FIRM) follows through accredited practical experience. |
